First i need to apologise for not doing a newsletter since November, this was due to me breaking my laptop charger and being to tight to buy a new one (60 BLOODY QUID). Anyway i hope everyone had a good Christmas and a Happy New Year, of course this time of year means us lycra losers are worrying about the added extra couple of pounds or in Ian’s case spare tyres around the stomach. So i am sure everyone is on some kind of diet , i hear Karl is not using so much spray tan now because of the extra potential Kcals and Phil Graham is on rice cakes and water until July.
First off all some a special mention to Paul Edwards (because he is special) who recently completed the Rapha Strava challenge of cycling 500 km between christmas eve and new years eve. It was a great effort to get that kind of distance in during the those days. The more i think about it the more i think that Liz sent a request to Strava to set up such a challenge to get Scrooge Edwards out of the house! But well done Edwards for a bloke of your age it is an impressive couple of days of riding.
I think we would all like to thank Ian Williams for organising such a great evening down at the Viceory for our Wheeler Christmas curry. He spent hours in that curry house sampling that menu and i think he didn’t let us down! Also we raised £170 for Rhys during the night which is a great effort and lets hope we can get some other events sorted soon !!
Well done to everyone who has turned up to a club recently because i think you would all agree that the weather has been terrible. Please see the attached link for the next couple of club runs or as i like to call them Ian Williams Tours.
Awards Evening is taking place February 5th at Morgans Hotel, £10 deposit is required asap please to Ian and he has started circulating the menu so please can you check your e-mails and get back to him thank you. Just a pre warning myself and Karl will be holding the Swansea Wheelers unofficial awards which if you are lucky enough to win such award may require you to consume some alcohol .
Spin at the LC has started back, from what Trevor has been saying ‘ARE YOU READY’ its turned in to one hell of an hour of pain and i know that everyone is loving it. If you are interested in spin it takes place every Thursday night at 8pm , if you could e-mail the club or message one of the guys then we could sort out a space for you, members and non members are welcome.
Its membership time, i have asked for my pocket-money early this month, the membership is £25 for the year and this can be paid via cash or cheque to Ian (if he turns up on a new bike we know why) or any committee member or by the clubs account , please e-mail Simon for more details.
