There were 21 riders out yesterday for the clubrun to Carmarthen. Apologies in advance for those not mentioned, but I’m a bit out of touch and all I could see were your arses for 30 miles.
Guests were S.U.C.C. crew – Adam, Griff & Co and a few others.
We rode out to Loughor Bridge, where Bob turned back and onto Llanelli. Along the coast into the unforecasted headwind. Onto the Millenium bike path, where we were briefly joined by Jay & Co. Into Pembrey and the long, flat road to Kidwelly. Then right up the Kidwelly bypass and the undulating road towards Carmarthen. Mike B. and I turned off at the Pontyates junction from where the Secretary takes up the commentary (thanks Phil).
After you turned off, we headed down the hill towards Carmarthen and the cafe stop. At the cafe stop, a busy Morrisons meant that we had an extended wait for food. During the extended break, talk turned to the cold weather and Ian William’s waterbottle. An old lady also thought it would be nice to stand right next to my table and stare at me until we left, at which point she jumped into our graves!!
Once back on the road, we negotiated the difficult Carmarthen junction, where an idiot in a VW golf thought it would be a good idea to fly past us before cutting us up! Anyway onto the long undulating road to Ffairfach, where the pace was kept high by Trevor, Phil G, Jonny and Chris Regis. A couple of sprints for the signs along the way. At Ffairfach we turned right and towards Ammanford, where Trevor slipped off the front and TT’d his way along to Ammanford, the groups splitting up before regrouping at the Ammanford sign. After that through Ammanford and onto the road to GCG, where we met another headwind! Up the hill and then on to Pontardawe and home, with the group breaking up in Ynystawe.
Total mileage = 75.
Points:- 4 = Phil G., Trevor, Ian W., Kevin & Mark N. 3 = Mark W., Lee, Nic Cleave, Paul & John. 2 = Mike, Karl, Jonny, Simon, Louis & Chris R. Guests = 6?
If anyone is not mentioned above, please let me know a.s.a.p…as points mean prizes…well a prize…in fact the prize! I can’t keep it forever…or can I?
