There were 14 riders out yesterday for the clubrun to Sennybridge. Guests were Adam (no gloves) & Griff (both S.U.C.C.) & Tom Withers.
We set off from the stadium and up the Bonymaen bypass straight into a cold headwind. Through Winchwen & Trallwn and onto Skewen where we picked up Bob & Lee. Up the Neath valley, Trevor & Phil turned off at Ynysgerwen C.C. Along the valley road to Glynneath, where the bookends Bob & Barry turned off. Up the Tara hill, past Royal Glynneath G.C.and along the B road to Ystradfellte where we were passed by 2 Police cars who were patrolling the no-go area that is downtown Ystrafellte. We regrouped at Devil’s Elbow and braved the descent with its centre line gravel to spice things up a bit. Along the valley road to Defynnog.
We stopped at the Old School House cafe as it was open – 33 miles. Nic pushed on to home.
After a quick coffee and cake it was back on the main road, with another Police car in attendance and a welcome tailwind down the Swansea valley. Phil’s tormentor in chief did a major turn at the front, to help drag us back to Pontardawe in an hour. 60 miles.
Points:- 4 = Kevin & Mark W. 3 = Mark K., Trevor, Phil & Nic. 2 = Andy M., Simon S., Barry, Bob & Lee. Guests = 3.
